Fruit drop is usually a normal process that protects the tree from producing too many fruits that would stress the tree's resources, and weigh down the limbs to the point of breaking. But, if your trees lost all their fruit there's something else going on. Possible reasons:
- trees too young - Very young trees protect their vigor by sending energy to roots or leaves instead of fruit.
- lack of rain during spring - Lack of spring rain or irrigation can cause fruit drop beyond normal amounts.
- missing nutrient (macro or micro) from soil - Contact your county extension agent for more info.
- insect damage
