7 week old puppy has diarrhea?
i just got my puppy, she's a bulldog/pitt mix. i took her to the vet 4 days ago, and i have had her on medicine for worms, today is her last day on the medicine. i have also had her on a prescription diet (given to me by the vet) to help her gain weight, she was very malnourished when i got her. she has had diarrhea since last night.
is the diarrhea from the worm medicine? if so, how long will it last? is there anything i can do to help it slow down?
thanks in advance!~

Hi,
If you just got your puppy very recently, she could simply have diarrhea from a change in environment, food, sleeping or stress. Taking puppies to new homes can be a very stressfull time for them. As to if the diarrhea is from the worm medicine, I do not think so. My one yearold puppy had worms when she was younger and it did not giver her diarrhea. To slow it down, if you are feeding your puppy wet dog food try switching to dry. It should also be noted that if you are giving this puppy milk, it is most likely the cause of the diarrhea. Hope your puppy feels better and good luck!

If you are not worming her she probably has worms that are causing the diarrhea. Take her to the vet because her ear need attention anyway and you can set up a vaccination and worming schedule with the vet. Don't wait to see if she gets better because she'll more than likely get worse. She was taken from the litter far too early.
