What do you think about this?

Question

I love the name Sofia, but my hubby and I decided it was a little popular for our taste. Then the other day while watching a movie I heard it pronounced so-feye-uh instead of so-fee-uh and re-fell in love with it. So my questions are:

1) Do you like the pronunciation so-feye-ua (almost sounds like so fire with light r)?

2) How could we spell it so that it would be pronounceable?

No, I don't like the new pronunciation but I would not start spelling the name all funky just to try to make it look more like how you want it pronounced. Pronouncing the name in the way it's not meant to be pronounced just looks like you're trying way too hard to be unique and just comes off looking.. ugh. If you like Sofia then I so go with that (pronounced the right way). Who cares if it's really popular if it's the name you love. I would probably spell the name Sophia though just b/c that's usually how it's spelled and it will just cause less problems with people always spelling it wrong.

I prefer the pronunciation and spelling to be Sophia, but if you want to use your pronunciation you could spell it Sofiah.  I'm pretty sure people will still mistake it for So-FEE-uh but to me that spelling looks like it would be pronounced So-FEYE-uh.

They are both very pretty, and you could spell it Sophieah it looks wierd but it looks like its pronounced. good luck!

i think that pronounciation will be more trouble then it's worth,, use it the way it is or use it as a middle name... Good Luck.
