Anyone going to the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany?

I might be able to go in September for the first time. I wish I didn't have to wait another 10 years if I miss it. Share your opinion if you've ever been.

I went in 2000. It was an amazing experience to say the least. If there is any way you can make it, I highly suggest it. It is amazing to see the dedication that the entire town puts into this play. I am not sure if the area has changed much in 10 years, I doubt it. But it was in a beautiful open air theater, slanted, not stadium seating. We stayed at a little hotel within walking distance. Its just beautiful and quaint. Its my understanding that the town starts preparing two years in advance, its just awe inspiring to see an entire community come together for a tradition like that. If you do wind up going, think about bringing a small pillow (like a seat cushion) to the play, the seats are not padded, just hard wood. If you have any sort of problem with your legs or back or sitting for long periods of time, it will be uncomfortable, several people in the tour I was with commented about it. Also, go early its get very crowded and confusing with everyone looking for a seat. When I was there I believe it was just first come first serve seating if I remember correctly. Don't wait 10 years to go if you can help it. I wanted to figure out a way to go again this year, but its just not possible.
