What fiscal MORON crafted the proposed "DREAM Act"?

During the first six years, the immigrant would be granted "conditional" status, and would be required to graduate from a two-year community college or complete at least two years towards a 4-year degree, or serve two years in the U.S. military. After the six year period, an immigrant who met at least one of these three conditions would be eligible to apply for legal permanent resident status. During this six year conditional period, immigrants would not be eligible for federal higher education grants such as Pell grants, BUT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR STUDENT LOANS and work study.

Now should they fail to complete their studies, as a significant number of students in general do, JUST HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO RECOVER THE MONEY, after they get deported?

We the CITIZENS of the USA will be left holding the bag, AGAIN!!!

Update:

Tiktaalik, my question was FISCAL, and regardless of how they got here, they could still represent UNPAID LOANS that would NEVER be paid.

Should they go back to their own countries, I am sure they have an education FROM OUR SCHOOLS at NO CHARGE TO THEM that would put them ahead of where they would have been had they stayed in their own country. So they will elevate the education level of their country, a WIN WIN all around!

Are you so niave to believe that you could collect that bill in Mexico, or wherever, when many go unpaid by US CITIZENS. My point is we should not foot the bill!

Update 2:

Excuse Me 4 Being A Good Citizen

I am all for higher education, what I am NOT FOR is our paying for someone who is NOT a citizen of the USA, not to mention an ILLEGAL alien, unless said DREAM Act is ever passed!

Hey if we do not spend that money on ILLEGALS I am all for spending that money on US Citizens receiving a higher education!

    No no and no.

As a former legal immigrant, I think all legal immigrants and US citizens should put a stop to this foolishness and now. Get out illegals. Go the hell home.

The DREAM Act is an acronym, but one of those "progressive" ploys to allow parents to escape their illegal deeds to benefit their illegal children. I'm sorry. Go back and wait your turn. You can't cut in line, and then benefit for it.

Sincerely, end the hyper-emotionalism. Americans don't support the Dream Act by 2-1. It's a child-using ploy.

I think you forgot to mention that the immigrants we're talking about here are minors; they're being given an opportunity to become legal immigrants because they currently have no such option.

And, um, your objection - seriously? Do you think that people are absolved of their debts just by moving to another country?

  • So you're against higher education? Pathetic.

    Who knows?

Is any government plan really thought through before being passed?

Your right, and that's what will happen. It's time to put an end to all of this.
