Police car accident no seatbelt?

So you are in the back of a police car and they don't buckle you in, then later they hit a deer and you get hurt, is that a lawsuit you think?

    Well if you're an adult, by law you don't have to have a seat belt on in the back seat.

    Maybe if you asked them to put your seat belt on.

    If you only sustained minor injuries, I couldn't see this standing up in court.

    I have no legal training, though.
