Thuja orientalis 'Aurea Nana' ?
I got my mother this plant for her name day because I liked the color, I didn't really bother doing research before and now I am beginning to question this move. For one we found conflicting information on how big it can grow (according to Google apparently normally these species are up to 5 meters tall, but this is dwarf variety and I found it is up to 5 feet, my mom however found piece of information saying it is just 70 centimeters tall... now it is about 30 centimeters i.e. one foot), I also noted that it is slow growing so I wonder how soon it will reach maximum size and to make me even more confused it says "balcony" (without explaining what it is supposed to mean) on the pot, so I wonder if it is safe to plant it in garden or it will freeze in winter (we live in Northern Europe and even thought most recent winters have been warm and snow less, temperatures can go down to as much as -20C, though normally when there is snow it is around -5 to -10C)

How big it grows depends on how happyit is and how long you wait. Yes, it's a dwarf, but they don't have an exact program inside that stops their growth entirely at x height. Generally, you'll find growers tell you it grows between 2-3 feet. Some will say 3-5 feet. It is a slow grower, but if you wait long enough, it will keep growing and may get to 5 feet or so. That will take decades.
As for growing it in a pot, there is the issue of it surviving the winter. The ground is naturally insulating - but anything grown in a pot will run the risk of having the root ball freeze through. You'll need to insulat that pot in the winter. Tuck it up next to the building, out of winter winds, and place the pot on an un-opened bag of mulch (rather than the cold-conducting concrete of the balcony), and then tuck a few more unopened bags of mulch around the outside. of the pot.

Yes, I will pray for your Nana and for you. I'm so sorry for your grief and sadness. I wish I could do more to encourage you, this is such a tough thing to go through. Jesus cares about you and your family. My family was destructive and messed up. After I met Jesus and became a Christian God brought people into my life who became "family by choice". I've been loved by people who were no real kin to me in the world, but who meant everything to me. No one can replace our family, but God won't abandon us or let us down. I know God wants to help you and your family throughout this tough time. I have lost much of my physical family already and God has been there for me to help me and them. Spirited Prayer Warrior
