AUDITIONS FOR TREE PENNY OPERA?

HI

I've now got an audition coming up for the three penny opera and i'm hoping to go for the character of Polly and i know she's a soprano but could anyone tell me the range. Like the highest notes she sings in the performance to the lowest. I'm only a beginner so i don't want to strain my voice at all

Thanks

No casting director in their right mind would give you the part, even if you are a truly wonderful singer.

Here is why: Stamina. No matter how good you are in one song, you have not built up the stamina to sustain a full role over the length of the piece. If you were given the part, you would ultimately damage your voice.

Go for a minor character who has one solo: it will be a tremendous experience, and you won't hurt yourself. Being in the chorus is no shame, also real experience, and a lot of good musical necessities are learned there which directly apply to solo singing later.

    best regards.

If you are only a beginner I am going to say, you probably will not get the part. It is still a good idea to audition, but for operas you should be very confident, and not have to worry about straining your voice.

From a soprano though, you should be able to sing the whole range, from really low notes to the whistle notes.

I am sorry that this is probably not what you wanted to hear, but it is the truth

I sang Una Voce p.c.. Fa for an examination in E! (i'm a soprano, nevertheless). "Mon ceour s'ouvre a ta voix". i've got continuously enjoyed that. that is via Camille Saint-Saens. i think of its from Samson? Habanera's a classic! like it! there is likewise Voi, che sapete via Mozart. Ombra Mai Fu via George Handel. for sure, those are all in basic terms achievable alternatives for you. i understand that there are not 5 in distinctive languages, in basic terms some to open up your horizons.

Interesting question, and I was stumbling thru an answer when I realized that the answers you have already give excellent help, much better than I can do for you. Best luck to you.

Source(s): I stage managed a non-pro performance of 'Three Penny' years ago - hey, it wasn't bad.
