What pitchers for the NL and AL would you like to see in the ASG? And other questions--->?

Here's a short little survey. Hope you enjoy! :)

1) Honestly, I'm GLAD fans don't get to choose pitchers. I don't think we should even get to decide the starting position players, since it turns into a popularity contest.

However, IF you could choose a couple (or one) pitchers from each league, who would you choose and why?

Me, I want to see Neftali Feliz. He leads the AL with 20 saves right now, and he's fun to watch, since he gets his fastball into the triple digits.

2) Give your team a report card (ranging from A+ to F) for starting pitching, bullpen, defense, and offense.

3) Where are you in the standings? Better or worse than you expected?

4) Who is your team's current SUPER-PERFORMER? (i.e., Josh Hamilton for the Rangers, Miguel Cabrera for the Tigers, etc.)

5) NCAA baseball- better or worse than MLB games?

6) Fill in the blank: Ever since __________ got on/off the DL, my team has been ______________.

Hope you enjoyed! :D

    1. I would agree with the Feliz pick... I would like to see him light up the gun a few times.

    2. Yankees:

Starting Pitching: A - (It's been very good this year. Vazquez has been pitching much better as of late, and CC will get better later in the season. Hughes and Pettitte are pitching very well. Burnett has been inconsistent.)

Bullpen: B (Mariano Rivera has been good as usual, and everyone else has been pretty good. Chan Ho Park has been giving up too many home runs though)

Defense: A - (We don't make too many mistakes and we are an athletic team. The infield is very good all around, anchored by Mark Teixeira's defense at first base)

Offense: B + (Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira, our big bats, have been relatively quiet. But guys like Nick Swisher and Brett Gardner have been carrying the team. Jeter's not hitting as well as he could. Granderson has been solid.)

    3. The Yankees are currently 45-27, first place in the AL East (2 games in front of the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox). Considering the injuries we've had and the fact that our offense hasn't totally clicked yet, I think we're much better off than expected. This is a good sign for us.

    4. I think our team's current super-performer is Nick Swisher and Brett Gardner (offense) and Phil Hughes (pitching). I know they're not sexy picks like Josh Hamilton for the Rangers and Miguel Cabrera for the Tigers, but without those guys, the Yankees are nowhere near where they are right now.

    5. NCAA Baseball is worse. But I haven't seen enough NCAA Baseball to really make much of an opinion.

    6. Ever since (Curtis Granderson) came off the DL, my team has been (starting to click more)

Ever since (Nick Johnson) went on the DL, my team has been (more balanced offensively).

Thanks for posting this! It was a fun question to answer and a nice break from the day!

    1. Ubaldo Jimenez for the NL, 13-1, 1.90 ERA

David Price for the AL, 10-3, 2.45 ERA

    2. Starting pitching- B

    Bullpen- C

    Defense- A-

    Offense- B

    3. Worse, we're second in the AL West.

    4. Torii Hunter, he leads the team in batting average, homeruns, and RBI's.

    5. Worse, MLB is the best.

    6. Ever since Kendry Morales got on the DL, my team has been doing great, with a record of 17-7.

    1) I would choose Josh Johnson of the Florida Marlins. He's been absolutely amazing and is on the verge of making history with 8 consecutive games of allowing 0 or 1 earned run. I'd also like to see Jaime Garcia but with his rookie status I don't know if he'll get the nod.

    2) Florida Marlins

starting pitching: B- with the exception of some melt down games by Robertson and Nolasco the starting rotation has been reliable especially considering last season.

bullpen: F----- a complete and utter shitshow.

    defense: the same as above

    offense: C streaky as always

    3) Where are you in the standings? Better or worse than you expected?

4th place and 2 under .500. worse than I expected. Last year we were in 2nd and didn't have a complete starting rotation. This year we do and we're in 4th. =/

    4) Who is your team's current SUPER-PERFORMER?

Josh Johnson has been fantastic. We've had sporaditc super performers. Early in the season it was Jorge Cantu, currently Gaby and Coghlan have been fantastic.

    5) NCAA baseball- better or worse than MLB games?

Worse. I don't care for the metal bats and the abundance of errors.

    6) Fill in the blank:

Ever since John Baker got on the DL, my team has been abusing Ronny Paulino who, luckily, has been killing on offense and doesn't seem to be tired yet!

    1. Ubaldo Jimenez in the NL, and either David Price or Andy Pettitte in the AL.

    2.

    Starting Pitching- B+

    Bullpen- C

    Defense- A

    Offense- B+

    3. First in the American League East. Can't expect any better than that. Granted, it's June and the standings are sure to change many times, but at the moment I'm happy.

    4. Robinson Cano

    5. Worse, but that's just because I think theres nothing better than MLB games.

    6. Ever since Nick Johnson got on the DL, my team has been better. Sorry Nick Johnson, but you didn't do anything for us.. not that we're doing better because he's on the DL, but we've just done better since he's been on the DL.

    1) Honestly, I'm GLAD fans don't get to choose pitchers. I don't think we should even get to decide the starting position players, since it turns into a popularity contest.

However, IF you could choose a couple (or one) pitchers from each league, who would you choose and why?

AL-I would take David Price, Buchholz, Hughes, Pettitte for obvious reasons..but also Cliff Lee because he has really come back from his iinjury and have pitched lights out for the Mariners quietly.

NL-defeiently Ubal Jimenez, of course Wainwright and Carpenter, but I really think Florida's Josh Johnson have earned a spot. He have been unbelevable this season for the fish.

    2) Give your team a report card (ranging from A+ to F) for starting pitching, bullpen, defense, and offense.

SP---- Grade B..hoenstly we havent pitched too bad despite our opening day rotation is partly hurt, Duchsherer and Brett Anderson. Sheets have struggled, but Mazzaro has stepped it up his last few starts, Gio Gonzalez has been solid, Braden with his perfect game, and Trevor Cahill have been perhaps our best pitching this year.

Bullpen- B-.....we have had our ups and downs. We started the season pretty solid. Bailey and Breslow have been our really only reliable arms now.

Defense- B+...we are knwon for solid defense, but are allowing mroe errors this year than usual. This team should be getting an A+, but they get a B+ for this season in particular.

Offense-B-...CoCo Crisp hurt most of the season. To be hoenst this team is swinging hte bat much better then seasons past. They actually have like 6-7 guys whose batting around .270+...we do lack the long ball power tho and we suck at hitting with runners in scor. pos.

    3) Where are you in the standings? Better or worse than you expected?

3rd, worst. I expected the angels to faulter some. I was thinking 2nd with a .500 record.

    4) Who is your team's current SUPER-PERFORMER? (i.e., Josh Hamilton for the Rangers, Miguel Cabrera for the Tigers, etc.)

We dont really have a star hitter for sure, so I guess Ill have to go with Andrew Bailey. A fairly reliable closer.

    5) NCAA baseball- better or worse than MLB games?

Never eally paid much attention to NCAA, Ill go with MLB as better because I dislike the osund of aluminum bats hitting the ball.

    6) Fill in the blank: Ever since ___Duchsherer/Brett Anderson_______ got on/off the DL, my team has been __forutnate to have Cahill and Gio Gonzalez step up, but we are still losing too many games and need ANderson back soon.____________.

Hi, I don't think any pitcher will, with an average 32.4 starts per year they would need to have over 11 K's per game. Unless a pitcher can go 8-9 innings every game then the 383 is tough enough to catch. The high salaries & how the game has changed as far as pitching specialists from the 7th inning on prevent them from a complete game.

    1) Tim Hudson for the National League and David Price for the American League

    2)

~Starting Pitching- B+ I know they can do better, Kenshin Kawakami, hasn't even won a game (even if it's not completely his fault), it's still unacceptable. He has not lived up to expectations by any stretch of the imagination. Tommy Hanson is adjusting to the big leagues his second time around, he's still learning, he looked good going into his last start. I think it's a learning-Tommy thing, he'll be fine. Medlen has really impressed me, and when Jair Jurrjens returns, I'm hoping he'll take Kawakami's place in the rotation. Derek Lowe has looked alot better his last few starts, thankfully. Tim Hudson has been solid, and very reliable. All in all, pretty good, but I know KK and Tommy can both do better than their records and ERA suggest.

~Bullpen- A- Billy Wagner has been great, finally we have a reliable closer (unlike last year, I don't miss Rafeal Soriano one bit). The set-up guys, and middle relief pitchers have been good, other than Takashi Saito, who cost us the game yesturday.

~Defense- A- Besides the previous bad luck in the White Sox series, they've been performing pretty well. Especially Troy Glaus, I'm really impressed, going into the season I was really unsure about him, but he has proved he can play baseball, and very well at that. He's made some really good plays and I'm impressed. I'm unimpressed with Yunel Escobar, it dosen't look like he's half trying out there. Not just on defense, he dosen't hustle to firstbase, and that drives me mad. I'm also impressed with Brian McCann, who has been throwing out runners and picking them off like crazy. Love that guy! (:

~Offense- B- I know they've been scoring runs and stuff, but they have a horrendus men left on base number. That drives me insane. Hitting with runners in scoring position, especially for certain players, has become difficult. Heyward has really hit the ground hard, it seems he's forgotten how to hit the baseball. Troy Glaus has been good, Martin Prado (beside his recent struggle), have both been good. McCann and Chipper are both starting to look better at the plate, and I really think it helps the other when one starts to hit. Eric Hinske was a wonderful off-season addition to the team, and he has been amazing. I know they can do better than they have been, and I hope they start hitting like I know they can the second half.

    3) I'm glad they're in first place, and I know this team belongs in first place, but they are better than just a half-game ahead of the Mets. If they hadn't had such a terrible April their record would reflect that, but you can't take back the past. They nearly made up for it May, they swooped into first place, and I hope they can remain there. I predicted they would be good, but I never predicted they would have the best NL record, they're definatley doing better record-wise than I would have expected, but it's really a few minor things that they need to improve. Lower the LOB numbers, score more runs, lower the runners-left-in-scoring-position numbers as well. You can't score runs if you can't deliver when those oppurtuities are there. I don't know how many times the Braves have left the bases loaded, or left runners on 2nd and 3rd, and alot of the time those opputunites where there with nobody out, and they didnt score.

    4) Right now? Eric Hinske, he has been so impressive, and with Matty Diaz's unexpected leave due to an infection, it makes me really glad we picked him up this off-season, or Atlanta would be in big trouble.

    5) The errors, especially baserunning errors they make drives me insane. It's almost as bad as my brother's baseball games, his teammates, weren't bad, they just didn't think long enough, threw the ball away, little things like that. That seems to happen alot in college baseball.

    6) Ever since Brian McCann got off the DL, my team has been on fire. (Early May)

That was interesting, took longer than I thought. It was fun though! (:
