Likelihood of breech baby at 30 weeks turning by due date?
My baby boy has been sitting in the breech position for a while now. I saw my obstetrician during the week (i'm 30 weeks today) and he is still breech.
I just wondered, have you had a baby sitting breech at this stage who has turned around by your due date? I know my obstetrician has said not to worry until 36 weeks and we'll discuss the options then, but my first baby was born at 36 weeks so I'm wondering what the likelihood is of him turning before then...

The likelihood of your baby turning is pretty high. The majority of babies turn head down by 36-37 weeks with a few stinkers waiting until 40 weeks. Some don't turn at all. Doctors aren't sure why. The good news is there are things you can do to try to turn the baby. Things like swimming, floating doing the breaststroke can help. So can pointing lights and playing music at your pubic bone.
This article has some good ideas about turning a breech baby and may help.

The professionals all say that "the baby can turn at any time, right up to the last minute". While this is true, it is also true that if your baby feels uncomfortable head down, or cannot get into a head-down position due to the pelvic shape, then chances are she will stay put. I have heard that Acupuncture is very successful in turning babies (something to do with needling the little toe!) and sometimes, external version is attempted by your consultant. I had the latter and it failed to work. My baby was extended breech and was delivered by section just over a week after the external version was attempted. Prepare your mind for the alternative of having a c-section, just in case. If they want to try to turn her, they usually won't do that until around 37/38 weeks, as sometimes it can rupture your waters and start labour. Strange though it sounds, if your shoe size is a 3 (UK) or under it may explain why she's not presenting head down. Listen to your consultant and take their advice. They can't tell you to have a section, but if they suggest it as an option, seriously consider it. You may discover that your pelvis was too small to delivery vaginally. Good luck.
