I'm deathly afraid of airplanes too.

My parents always tell me though that there is a better chance of you dying in a car wreck then a plane wreck.

The chances of the plane wrecking are not very high. You will most likely be fine.

Take along some stuff to do on the planeride.

Read a book, listen to music, bring a coloring book, sleep, make a braclet.

Anything to take your mind off the ride.

    Hope this helped.

Okay so the best thing to do is to understand the basics of flight and a good statement to help you is from pilots "do you think i would fly one of these everyday if i thought it was going to crash"

but seriously google the mechanics of flight and learn how it works, as with most people like your self you probably cant grasp the concept of how a multi tonne machine can lift of the ground but it is really simple here are some picture to help explain lift and how the aircraft stays up there.

And also if you do fly in a boeing 747 id just like to advise you that one has never been lost through a mechanical failure so yeah aircraft's are magical things and are the safest way to travel.

And finally don't be listening for funny sounds creaks and other noised are part of the aircraft flexing

which is part of its aerodynamic properties to help it fly wings flex to avoid structural damage and noises are part of the experience,

Chief among the worrying noises is shortly after take off the engines being slowed this is to help the aircraft slow down to a safe speed and to lower the noise pollution for surrounding area's.

hope this helps any more questions about flight mail me

Dont be too paranoid. If your to Paranoid, then chances are something WILL happen. Might i ask, where are you going? And bring lots of stuff to keep you occupied so it will take your mind off things. I admit, riding an airplane can be scary....But Youll be safe, as long as you pray to God.. (if your an athiest im deleting this question...) Ooh and Bring Lots of gum! Your ears will pop like crazy so you need that gum! And close your eyes when the plane is taking off, and landing. It might help. and you can close the air plane shade window thingy...

i became frightened of flying until eventually I bit the bullet and allowed myself to be transported via easyJet from Luton to Belfast some six years in the past. when you consider that then i've got flown in each and every single place, which includes twelve flights to the u . s . a .. There are a number of programmes obtainable for frightened fliers, only seek the internet. My first ever flight in touch a whisky previously boarding; that became adequate to pluck up the braveness to get on the airplane. After the preliminary adventure of take-off, which became somewhat off-putting, flying has become a excitement.

i have always been afraid of flying. It's really just the waiting part that gets to me. But then I think, why am i scared? As I am typing this, there are thousands of people flying, and they are perfectly fine. It is actually safer than driving in a car. The only reason you hear about it on the news sometimes is because it makes a good story, it is uncommon.
