an 8 days Trip to hongkong -- pls help me out huys?
Hi ya all
I am planning for a annual vacation to hongkong. I would highly appreciate if you could help me out with these questions
1) how many days does it take to see hongkong, i dont mean all of it but the important and beautiful places.
2) Places to visit in and around hongkong -- sight seeing
3) places for shopping
a) cloths
b) electronics
c) accessories / gifts
4) how to travel while in hongkong / within hongkong
5) I am looking at 8 days stay, i am not that concerned abt a luxurious hotel however i would like to know, is it better i go through a tourism package or by myself. because a tourism package would not cover everything
i would highly appreciate if someone who is from hongkong can reply // other are more than welcome
thanx a lot guys

Lucky you. I love Hong kong and have stayed there 3 times now each time as a stop over from Australia to Europe. Twice I stayed for 3 nights so with my 3 stops I have stayed a total of 8 days. I saw a lot of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. T stayed at Kowloon twice which was wonderful. just used the local buses and did one organised tour which if I remember it was probably a half day tour which took us to the Top of Hongkong Island and gave us a running commentary of the area . The bus for that picked us up at the hotel . The last time I went I stayed not far from the Airport on Lantau island and apart from wandering a little around the shops my goal was to visit the Big Buddha. That was wonderful I walked to where the skyrail left from and the trip on that over and up the mountain to where the Big Buddha sat was wonderful then at the top I wandered through a village to the Monastry there. If I ever get to go back I want to do a trip to Macau which I think one can do a daytrip by ferry or maybe ill stay a night there. So your 8 days will be great you will see most of Hongkong and much of the surrounds. It's lovely down at the harbour at night.I would rather do my own thing but throw in a couple of half or day trips there will be plenty to choose when you are there. I always book my hotels on Expedia or Zuji or one of those sites that get the good deals a couple of weeks before. Have a great trip
