Are Speeding Ticket fines too high. Deterant or oppression?

you are right the fed government took the speed limits out of the states hands and mandated them Mt. and Nv. used to have unlimited speed limits when they imposed speed limits Mt.'s accident rate actually went up as far as how to base the fines I would say base it on the blue book price of the car as that only takes a computer that most LEO's have in their car where the income based fines would take 2-3 people to research their fore more money , to get to level 6 you have to have 24,999 points the % does not matter just the points more points the higher you go

nicely, look at it this style: what proportion people die of speeding in simple terms ?? Very small volume, proper ?? And once you upload-up the great motives of unnatural dying, speeding is plenty way way down on the checklist, proper ?? in spite of the undeniable fact that, what proportion %. regulation enforcement officers are interior the industry ?? Many greater desirable then the thin little loss of existence quotes would say it merits.... suited ?? So, I hereby placed forward that velocity regulation enforcement officers are out for the $$$$ on my own ( be conscious: they do no longer confirm to do it, the cities do ). Nickle and dime speeding - which everyone does by accident or due to stress of time, is over charged for the crime.

However reckless driving (per my state definition) I feel should be 24 hr jail time minimum or more, depending how reckless they drive and where. Fines do not deter the reckless who do not care about others in society, time out does. (plus a record). I could care less if they fine the reckless driver - take them off the street for a limited time - the first time.

Think about it for a moment, if it's oppressive, it definitely should be a deterrent - but it isn't.

I do agree that a fine for, say, $150 is a much harsher penalty for the guy working for minimum wage than for a guy making 6 figures a year - and for the same offense.

In AZ, fines are more about generating revenue than promoting safety or acting as a deterrent.
