Landlord never gave keys to house?

Ok I have a signed rental lease but he never signed or even verbal agreement has been made to the lease. And no we are not even in the house. Are we still obliged to the lease or is he breaking the contract.

Update:

Do I move in or what? Even without keys? explain. Or just not bother.

Update 2:

I have cancelled my leaving the house I am in now because otherwise I would not have a place to live. This was just my family looking into renting something bigger but the house I am in is fine.

Update 3:

No he has not signed lease or even answered phone calls.

Update 4:

In addition he has not even verbally agreed to the lease or signed it.

Update 5:

trust me I want to walk away from this due to lack of communication between the landlord and I because what if there was something wrong with the house.

Update 6:

oh not to mention I have called numerous times.

Update 7:

Bottom line just want to walk away and look for something else.

How do you know he did not sign it? Do you still have the copy you signed?

If you signed it YOU are bound to it, you just can't enforce him without his signature.

Why don't you just call him and ask for the keys? When does the lease say that you can start living there? Have both you and the landlord signed the lease? Is the door locked? Is the key under the mat? What does "he never signed or even verbal..." mean? Has he signed the lease? If he didn't sign, then I have to ask, why not?

I don't get it----Normally you might be given a copy of the Lease in advance for your review but I would never get a tenants John Hancock without giving mine at the same time. and having a copy for the tenant...This reeks of bad business and lack of thinking on your part...You signed-he didn't--he can add his signature and you are bound..Its like you are a hostage....Call him-either he needs to give you the keys and a copy of the lease or he needs to void that Lease in writing--otherwise this can become an issue in the future.
