Your thoughts on this quote about the universe and religion?
"It doesn't seem to me that this fantastically marvelous universe, this tremendous range of time and space and different kinds of animals, and all the different planets, and all these atoms with all their motions, and so on, all of these complicated things can merely be a stage so that God can watch human beings struggle for good and evil — which is the view that religion has. The stage is too big for the drama."

Religion isn't about God, it's about how the belief in God affects man.
It evolved to help us cope with life & death.
The actuality of God is a VERY different thing indeed.
And Feynman senses this disconnect of scale as did the ancient Psalmist who wrote:
"When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast ordained; What is man that thou art mindful of him?"
Psalms 8:3-4:
The 'stage' is too big for the drama.... or perhaps more to the point:
The Religious stage is small because it was never intended for anything besides man to be on it.

I never heard that quote . I kinda like it. Thats why I just get more disappointed with some religious people when they say god created only the earth in his image. The bible needs to be updated saying "god" wants us to use our brains and explore and learn more about his other life creations elsewhere. But for some reason, Earth is the only thing acknowledged in this vast place outside of our insignificant little bubble.
When you talk to some it's " god made the Earth, and Earth only". Why not brag and say, "god created the whole universe and every bit of life that probably exists out there", but no.
