why do indians put chili in everything?

chili in fish, chili in meat, chili in desert, chili with chocolate, chili with fruits ... chili chili chili, its driving me nuts!

Update:

chili powder, chili sauce, chili beans, tabasco, call it whatever you want to call it ... i call it 'the hot stuff' ... host stuff in milk, hot stuff in juice ... its not my imagination and i am not misinformed, i can't find a place to eat, this hot stuff is eveywhere ( i am in middle east btw)

    interesting... I thought that Indians put everything into curries... not just chili - of course much of the world uses different peppers - some sweet, some mild, some hot going to extremes as well.... If you do not like those types of foods, then why do you eat it? Perhaps you need to learn to cook your own food.

    Chili is used only in savory dishes and not in sweets like chocolate and fruit. At least, traditionally you don't use it in Indian cooking. Not in juice and Never in milk. Looks more of a middle eastern requirement than Indian.

    Why do Americans put ketchup and cheese on everything?

  • chili? Chili is a bean dish with a sauce and spices. Things are added to IT... it's not added to things.

    Did you perhaps mean chili pappers? If so, I agree with what someone else said.. they don't put chili in everything... you were misinformed, or have an over-active imagination.

    Or maybe you meant chili powder. Not a common seasoning in Indian food. So again, if you meant chili powder, you are mistaken.

    I have met many Indians also there food are mostly like our except Indians are vegetarians. The reason is that spices red CHILI, green chillies are cheaper in India as they are grown in abundance. Also we love spicy foods. So i hope this answers your question.

    If you taste the food without the chilies, you'll understand why they add the chilies.

    BTW... India is not in the Middle East. I think you got your ethnic groups mixed up.

    Indians use green chillies, red chillies, red chill powder, make pickles out of green chillies, use capsicum, which are also a type of chilly called Dhobli Mirchi,meaning big chillies. making a vegetable out of it;

    These are used mostly with eggs, mutton,chicken and fish; But even chinese use them a lot. Why do you pick only on Indians ?

    Desserts and fruits ? That's weird ! Never heard about this combination !

    You are simply obsessed with chillies .
