Win xp clean install and now login onyl has blue screen with cursor?
i reinstalled xp on my computer using the cd fresh install deleted partitins made new one etc..done it a million times but this time the install took forever like 9 hours and now after loggin in i get a light blue screen with the mouse..thats it..i can access task manager but nothing is showing up any ideas?

windows xp should only take around 45 min to install not 9 hours something has gone seriously wrong.
try accessing the task manager click on file>> new task (run) and type explorer.exe and hit OK if windows than loads correctly something is stopping explorer loading (it could be a driver) if this doesn't work go to the task manager again as before click new task this time type cmd at the command prompt type sfc for the system file checker (have your xp disk handy it'll ask for it) if that doesn't sort out the problem then check to see if the xp disk has got scratches on it if it's clear of scratches is it clean it all's well then reformatting and reinstalling windows again is the only option I can see.

You should run CHKDSK to check and repair harddisk errors. Type CMD in the command line, type chkdsk and type C:/ r
This should work..
