Motorcycle seat height?
Hi, I am looking to buy my first motorcycle and I have no idea what the seat height should be, I am 6 foot 3 inches tall, what would be an appropriate seat height????? thanks in advance.
Ahh, thanks for the advice guys, I've gone out and got my bike ( a Honda CG125) a seat height of just under 31 inches i think, very comfortable, thanks again.

Seat heights will typically be around 29-33 inches for street bikes, lower for cruisers, 33-37 inches for dual sports and dirt bikes, maybe a bit higher for some. The unladen seat height does not tell you whether the bike fits you. Once you are on it, your weight will sack the suspension down, and you will find out how well you can touch. Inexperienced riders will usually be more comfortable if they can flat-foot both feet. Those with more experience just need to put a toe down at stops.
At 6'3", you should not have any problem getting your feet down. Of more interest to you is the spacing between seat and controls, particularly the distance between the seat and foot pegs. You may find you are cramped on some bikes.

Seat height should not be an issue. About the only time it becomes a factor is when you are trying to back up a heavy bike and your feet won't touch the ground. The only guy I know that really has kind of a problem due to long legs is a freaking giant (7 feet tall and 400 pounds), he likes a Honda Valkyrie. A Valkyrie's seat height is only 28 and a half or 29 inches, go figure.

Overall height doesn't matter, inseam length does.
At 6'3" I don't see that would really be a problem.
You don't need to concern yourself with seat height, but comfortable position.
Forget reading specs and go sit on some.
You will find what fits, and what doesn't.
Source(s): Even at 5'9" my inseam let's me sit many bikes. I figure it's around 30-31". I like my pants long enough to not ride up my boots when I walk or work. I wear 28x32. - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

You could ride just about any bike. Most bikes fit any guy in the 5'6 to 6'6 range.
Your best bet is to sit on a bunch of bikes and see how they fit you. Seat height vs. your height is not a good indicator of how comfortable the bike will be.

You want to be flat footed as you sit on the bike. (no problems for you there) When you sit on the bike (kickstand down) you do not want your legs folded all the way back. (this is your issue) It is all about comfort with any bike you buy.
P.s. Every see the harley guys with there feet stretched out forward. It is like there feet almost touch the ground as they ride. Those are forward controls, very comfortable for someone like you.

my buddy is 6'5 and has an r6 and he likes the way he fits on his bike, in fact he's one of the best stunters in so cal. he can literally do just about anything on that bike because he's so muscular and tall.
