Horse registery naming rules?

My friend has a 1/2 draft 1/2 quarter horse gelding and wants to register him. I know the different registerys have different rules about official names. Like how many characters long or starting letter and what not. But does any one know what registery he might go into and what the naming rules for that group are? Both his parents have a long list pedigree papers.

Hmm, if the horse is a draft breed crossed with a quarter horse, I'm guessing that the best place to register him would be as an IGHA horse (International Generic Horse Association). In this case, the name would need to be 26 characters maximum, spaces included. You could register the horse as an American Half Quarter Horse, but the horse would need at least one parent registered with AQHA or APHA. I'm not sure what the maximum number of characters is, but you can contact them about it.

First, you are going to find a registry for him.

There is a half quarter horse registry http://www.halfquarterhorseregistry.com/ .

If his build is exceptional, and of the right build, then he might qualify as a sport horse http://www.americansporthorse.com/registry.html

Apparently, a draft cross does NOT qualify as a warm blood.... http://www.americanwarmblood.com/rule_book/rule_bo...

What would be the benefit of this to your friend?

After you decide on a registry, then check their rules.
