Is it possible to have an ear infection without any pain, just a slight discharge?

This is gross, but its not like I can help it. I`ve noticed that my right ear has been leaking this bad smelling discharge. It does not hurt at all, and its not leaking enough that its coming out of my ear. I found out about it one day when my ear was itchy so I stuck my finger in it to scratch it and it was unusually damp, like there was water in it from after you take a bath. Is it possible that it may be infected? Will it clear up on its own? Its been like this for about 2 weeks now.

you need to make an appointment with your doctor soon as you can. Just because there is no pain with it doesn't mean that there isn't a bad infection going on. Most of the time there is pain with infections cause it irritates the area it is affecting and usually has swelling, puss, or some type of discharge or swelling. It sounds as though it is draining just enough to keep down swelling and pressure. Ear infections are nothing to mess around with, damage to the inner ear is not reversible, and can lead to other issues, get it treated by a doctor soon as you can

Sometimes , due to heat , a pimple like thing forms (don't know the exact word in English) in your ear and in order to rectify it , your body sends white blood cells to that area forming puss . After that 'thing' grew large in size , the puss comes out, with a bad smell of course. You might have experienced this OR sometimes when after bathing , without drying the water in ears , I'd plug in my earphone to hear music . There is no way for the water to dry and ear being sensitive forms an infection due to that. You might have experienced this too. If you are not sure of this two , I suggest you consult a doc.

pain is associated with the severity of a condition.

your ear infection will get worse if untreated well...

That's how mine started when I was a little boy. It didnt hurt so I told no one until one day the left side of my head started to hurrrrrrrrt sooooo bad. The pain was coming from my infected ear and the next thing I knew it's bleeding.

yes in fact I have had many ear infections that didn't hurt. Go see your doctor asap! Two things you don't fool with are your eyes and ears.
