What do we use to make energy?

Im not talking about wind, coal or hydro. I want the basic devices that are used to create energy. like the magnetic generator, solar panels, piezoelectric whatevers... you get the idea. What do we use to make energy. In particular is there anything that converts heat into energy.

Well you covered a good part of what we utilize right now to make energy. What you are asking on heat to energy relies on the basic laws of thermodynamics.

Heat itself is an energy but inefficient for producing electricity which is that i am assuming you are actually asking about. Thermodynamic generators all utilize heat and pressure. The most common of these is a steam powered generator.

However there is a Stirling generator that instead uses varied air pressure caused by heat with little or no water at all. Connected properly, a single unit can power the average home on a sunny day or make for a great source of power.

Here is a god video for a Stirling generator. http://sacramentorecycling.org/forum/index.php?top...

    Hope this helps

We use the sun and wind and even water to make energy with things like solar panels and hydroelectricity and wind mills. Solar panels convert the suns heat into energy.
