How come literally every single Republican cause is in favor of giant corporations?
Republicans are in favor of anything that benefits big corporations and wealthy individuals:
- scarping minimum wages
- doing nothing about climate change (favors big oil and coal)
- cutting taxes for the wealthy (pushing for flat tax, ending estate tax, lowering taxes on top 1% of the wealthy, creating loopholes, etc)
- scrapping regulations that prevent financial collapses, oil disasters and mining disasters.
- privatizing social security which would make Wall-Street happy.
- starting wars in other countries (which makes the military industrial complex happy)
- fighting against health care reform which makes the insurance companies happy at the expense of patients
- pushing privatization of everything from schools to prisons
- pushing against consumer credit reform
- fighting against financial reform which would keep Wall-street and banks accountable
- pushing for subsidies for giant agricultural, pharma, energy and defense companies.
What do Republican ever do for average Americans that is positive???
Everything I just listed has a negative impact on our society, so I don't see how that is a trade off for more jobs, when in fact we have been losing jobs to China, our environment has been sacraficed, our dependence on oil, our stagnant wages, our expensive health care premiums.
Ah, giant corporations like Wal-Mart is good for America?? You enjoy all that cheap Chinese plastic eh? You don't mind small businesses shutting down because they can't compete with their prices? really?
There is a difference between cold, faceless corporations who spend billions of dollars to get their way in government and small local businesses who contribute to their community and employ the locals with decent wages.
Republicans have lost their ways.
Republicans here obviously have a hard time differentiating between keeping corporations accountable and responsible with giving them whatever they want as long as they give us jobs!
Republicans are making sure we all proper, really???
The gap between rich and poor has been growing since Reagan was elected. The wages have been stagnant for a decade, our economy is falling apart thanks to deregulated financial sector and small businesses in the Gulf will go bankrupt thanks to all the oil that was spilled thanks again to lack of regulation.
Hey Republicans, I hate to tell you this....bug three decades of deregulations and tax cuts have done nothing to make the average American prosper!
Get a clue already!
Penny Bags: Rubin and Greenspan were both libertarians who pushed for deregulations of the financial markets. This is primarily a Republican philosophy. Clinton was a Conservative Democrat by Progressive standards.

You should take the time to understand why Republicans have certain stances on big business.
You are exaggerating quite a bit....

In case you didn't notice, it is businesses that provide almost all the goods, services and jobs we all need. It is business that pays for most of our health care in the way of benefits.
Some of your points are just lies and exaggerations. Republicans aren't in favor of cutting taxes for the wealthy. They are in favor of cutting taxes for every tax payer. Don't kid yourself about those "loopholes" either. Plenty of Democrats push those through for big business in their districts too.
Scrapping regulations that prevent financial collapse? What regulations were scrapped? Glass-Steagall? Suggest you take a look at the votes on the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act that did that. It was a truly bi-partisan bill and it was signed by President Clinton. Clinton's Secretary of Treasury Robert Rubin said it had nothing to do with the economic problems we've had. Other than that, there has been no financial deregulation. In fact, look up Sarbanes-Oxley. Bush signed it.
Privatizing SS would be a good thing. Maybe you haven't heard. SS is going bankrupt. It's going bankrupt because it's one big Ponzi scheme. If FDR would have set this up properly, so it was truly a private account, SS retirees would be far wealthier, rather than earning the measly 1.23% interest on their "contributions" that they do now.
Privatizing schools? Yes, it's much better to keep flushing more and more money into the increasingly failing public school system. Ever hear the phrase throwing good money after bad? That's the public school system.
Subsidies? Again, no shortage of Democrats getting in on that act. Democrat Senator Tom Harkin is behind a lot of agricultural subsidies. Many others too.
UPDATE: WHAT DEREGULATION? Show me anything that has been "deregulated." Sure, Republicans going back to Reagan have talked about it, but other than deregulating the wage and price controls, what has any Republican deregulated since?
Look at the this Census data I'm providing in the 2nd link. Specifically, look at Table 2, which shows household incomes by quintile over the last 35 years or so, in 2008 adjusted dollars. Please notice that both wealthy and poor follow the same trends. They get richer together, and they get poorer together, at the same times.

Things Republicans do for average Americans that is positive...hmmm
Make sure that America prospers so that average Americans can work their way to a successful and sustainable life with the freedoms they expect and the opportunity they deserve.
This is far and away a better path than the Democrats, who want to ensure that those average Americans have a welfare check waiting for them when the government puts their employer out of business, or forces their job to be outsources to another country.
ADD:
Not everything at Walmart is foreign made. Heck, my local walmart sells LOCAL produce.
And most of what they sell that IS made in China, was made in China because the regulations on businesses in the US has made manufacturing things in the US TOO EXPENSIVE..thank the "progressives" for that. The companies simply moved manufacturing to China.

Is that why Obama and BP were in bed together on Cap and Tax?
Who do you work for? What kind of computer do you have? What kind of TV do you have? Liberals hate big business and ignore the fact that with out those companies millions of liberals would be out of work.
How many Americans work for BP?
The facts show that companies in the Forbes 500 provide millions of jobs for middle class America.
The facts show that big corporations and senior executives are the biggest donors to charities around the world.
What have you ever done in your life that has brought a better life to any other American?
try again
Source(s): For those you that hate BP....BP employs thousands of Americans. If BP fails....then all of those Americans will be out of work. - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

The Republican Party keeps the rediculous dream alive that someday I'll be one of the few who becomes a billionaire. Then I'll be happy that the system has been set up to screw the average American so that I can live in bliss until the world implodes.
NB - This is irony.

so which you're saying that the republicans objective is to weaken unions, thereby weakening democrats so republicans can get elected. Doesn’t this advise then that purely as republicans may well be in mattress with companies, that democrats are purely as a lot in mattress with unions? How is that any extra useful? And haven’t democrats been doing the comparable factor by ability of that well-known? final time I checked, republicans weren’t funneling tax payer funds to CEO’s, they have been purely letting CEO’s and different wealthy human beings shop extra of their funds interior the hopes that those CEO’s might start up hiring extra human beings. Democrats, in spite of the undeniable fact that, take tax payer funds and use it to proceed to oppress the undesirable into thinking that they are able to a approach or the different become helpful in society purely as long as they stay dependant on government handouts. i think of you're at a loss for words on what a union is. A union isn't own (or guy or woman) freedom, that's collective freedom. Your in basic terms voice in a union is your vote, in spite of the undeniable fact that, hypothetically talking, you are able to thoroughly be against each thing the union does, yet your demands is easily no longer met, as a results of fact you're element of the collective, and the collective disagrees with you. Your fulfillment in a union, is dependant on the collective union, no longer your guy or woman achievements. in spite of the undeniable fact that, working for a non union company, you signify your self, and in basic terms your self. Your means is very almost endless. in actuality, once you evaluate Non-Union vs. Union, it almost comparable to Capitalism vs. Socialism.

Why corporations are better.
If corporations take one cent from me I can sue them or have the guy arrested and thrown int jail for theft.
Government can take one cent from me, If I refuse to pay, government can throw me in jail.
The difference is only government has a monopoly of the use of force.

That's who they represent. It's as simple as that. Republicans represent Big Business and extremely rich people. They will do anything and can do just about anything to get what they want for their clients due to the large money their clients have. They set up their own media which does nothing but spew corporate-friendly talking points and propaganda (i.e. Fox News). They convince a lot of people to accept an ideology that goes against their interests and the interests of the American public.

Republicans believe in "trickle down" or "voodoo" economics, in which the poor benefit when the rich benefit. The rich, rather than keeping the money (as they may have done to get rich in the first place) hire people and / or give it away to the poor. Also, since the rich are rich, they obviously know how to handle money efficiently.

Those are all positive. I don't understand what your point is. You really believe Demorats didn't have a hand in all that? Do you really believe those big corporations don't grease any liberal demorats palms. Get a grip on reality.
- Anonymous1 decade ago
Because educated, intelligent people understand that there is a mutually beneficial relationship between the people and the corporations.
But go on, continue to push your anti-job agenda... there's still a few decent people who don't hate liberals yet.
