Is anyone else disgusted by the ipad Advert?

"The ipad is thin, the ipad is beautiful."

As someone with an eating disorder, I find this as offensive.

It doesn't really help me in my state of mind.

Every time I hear it, I get more and more offended.

Anyone else feel the same?

I hear you, although I hadn't thought about it until I read your question. It's key to remember that advertisers do what they have to to sell their product. The iPad commercials are noticeably more punchy and aggressive than their iPhone counterparts. They're trying to elicit an emotional response, just not the one that you (and probably many others who are afraid to speak up) feel.

Of course, you can't blame the iPad itself, or the people who made it. They're just catering to what people are looking for in gadgets right now. The advertising agencies are the ones that bear the responsibility with marketing themes and messages. In this case, shoot the messenger, I guess!

The question is, would their ads be as powerful with different wording? I think if they even changed one word, it would take away the connotations that we traditionally relate with people: "iPad is sleek. iPad is beautiful". They're words that resonate more with gadgets.

Anyhow, until they adopt a different ad style, just change the channel when they play. Honestly there's nothing that will make it better except for consciously deciding that it doesn't matter. :) We all have our little triggers, and I was shocked to see some of the other answers you received on this. As they say, if the shoe was on the other foot ...

The Commercial is pointing out the appeal to the ipad not a person.

No, because iPads and humans are different. I don't want to carry a human around in my suitcase.
