Wedding Dress or Vacation? Women, Explain!?
Ok, so you can spend thousands on a holiday... Or, thousands on a dress you'd wear once.
Yet, it seems time and time again, women will choose the dress. What? Why? D:

4 AnswersOther - Computers9 years agoMy Birthparents want to contact me...?
Ok, so. My birth-grandma found me through the council... then told my birthparents, as far as I can tell, and now my birthfather wants to bypass the council and simply get me to call him. I feel a little weireded out by it, I'd rather meet them than just call, so ... what would you do in this situation?
Meet 'em, or bypass the system and call him?

1 AnswerRock and Pop1 decade agoWhy is humanity living in ignorance?
So. Look up, at the stars. What do you see? White flashes? Imagine it taking longer to reach each star than your lifetime, even if you could move at the speed of light!
Amazing, eh? I'm a vegetarian here, and yet I'm saying that every living thing is made of atoms, so why not eat it? After all, life is a way of keeping meat fresh! Pain is a systematic series of compounds.
So. If you eat meat, eat meat, not matter where it comes from. If you care; become vegeatrian.
Spoilers: Either way, after you die, whatever your body is made up of will become soil and gas.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAlcohol causing my Dissociation?
Ok, so I've been drinking pretty much every night for a while now, on and off... Never had any problems, until the other week when I suddenly became enraged after a manic episode (Mixed episode, perhaps?) and lost all sense of reality, time, and memories.
To cut a long story short, it didn't happen for another few days but gradually grew more frequent and worse; to the point of being dissociated for a whole two weeks until I finally (and instantaneously) snapped back into reality, feeling that once again my body was my own and my thoughts and memories were as well.
I've heard that Alcohol withdrawal can cause dissociation, but how long does this take to onset and how much must one drink for this to occur?
I am in no way addicted, and don't even drink enough to give me a hangover. I could simply not drink if I wished, so I'm just wondering if it's this or something more sinister.
4 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoIs anyone else disgusted by the ipad Advert?
"The ipad is thin, the ipad is beautiful."
As someone with an eating disorder, I find this as offensive.
It doesn't really help me in my state of mind.
Every time I hear it, I get more and more offended.
Anyone else feel the same?
6 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoCould this be Bowel Cancer?
Ok, so for a month now I've been pretty liquid and inconsistent when producing stools. (Yay, such a happy topic.)
I'm just worrying if this extended period of diarrhoea is perhaps pertinent to a case of Bowel Cancer?
It's my biggest, probably most irrational fear...
Still, if anyone could shed any light on the situation further than "Go see your doctor lololol", then I'd appreciate it.
2 AnswersCancer1 decade agoCitalopram withdrawl side-effects?
Ah, so I uh...
Mmm~
Since about a week ago now, I ran out of pills and I couldn't reach my doctor to book an appointment until tomorrow. Had to wait over Easter because they were closed, and didn't have any appointments until Tomorrow at 8:30am.
Woo.
So, I was on 20mg citalopram but now am supposed to be going on a 3-month repeat prescription of 40mg.
These are the symptoms I've been having, getting incrementally worse;
Light-headedness
Diarrhoea
Lack of concentration
Weakness
Sleepiness
Lack of motivation
Restless sleep
Trembling (not so frequent)
Cramp (also infrequent)
That's most of them, I'm sure there are some others but... do you think it's related to the lack of citalopram or not?
I'm not sure, but I hope it is because I'll be back on it tomorrow which should hopefully alleviate these problems.
What do you think, guys?
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade ago"Open With" upon program opening?
Ok, so, I had a piece of malware (god knows where it came from) on my computer named "Vista Antimalware 2010" and used windows life onecare to try and fix it - the virus was removed, but it forced me to restart and now I'm winding up with an "Open With" screen upon running any type of program or shortcut.
It's annoying me to no end.
I can still run /certain/ programs (one of the notable ones I cannot use is system restore, typical) using the .exe to run the same .exe through open with, and... I have to get my system back up and workable sooner rather than later.
Safe mode is the same, and I don't really know where else to go.
I need your help guys, now more than ever.

2 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoVegetarians! If KFC did a Vegetarian option, would you have it?
Ok, so I know KFC is all about Chicken, but if they reproduced a number of their dishes with Quorn or some kind of substitute and cleaned up their "Fries", then would you eat there? Frankly, I can't stand the fact my lungs get replaced with chickens every time I'm forced to go in to wait for my friend to get food... it's such an offensively potent smell.
I suppose I'd give it a try.
Anyway, they say they don't due it to low demand for such items.
Well, how the bloody hell would they know about Vegetarian demand without anything Vegetarian? (Except for "Sides", but who'd go to KFC for those?)
22 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoEating (in and out) in Japan for a Vegetarian?
Hm. Well.
I'm a Vegetarian, and I'll be moving to Niigata in a few years. Just wondered what I can do about eating out, with regards to dashi...
I know it's used a lot in Miso soup but there is vegetarian miso that uses a shitake-based substitute.
Do restaurants use this substitute at all? Are there any "hidden goodies" I need to watch out for that I may not know about?
Also, regarding eating in...
What vegetarian items can I expect to see in the supermarket? I'm thinking things you can just pop in the oven or the like.
2 AnswersJapan1 decade agoIs Stella Artois 4% Triple Filtered Vegetarian?
Ok, so I know that Stella Artois used to use Isinglass in their recipe (for over 200 years) and have recently changed this - allowing Vegetarians in.
However, does the new Stella Artois 4% also not contain Isinglass?
2 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoWrist pain. Any ideas?
In before you children saying "lol stop masturbating lololol", that's not it.
Let me elaborate.
I have pain in my wrist occasionally, it started out as a numb pain but it's grown into more of a constant nagging...
Now when I move it, it kinda... grinds and stuff. I think it could be something to do with the wearing down of the cartilage or sometime... General RSI from too much computer. I asked my doctor at least twice, but he's not said anything.
I can make my wrist click numerous times from moving my thumb back a little, and it's just grinding and grating away. A wrist support helps, but obviously isn't a permenant solution. Any ideas, guys?
3 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoTime - Does it exist?
Tell me, people.
What is the past?
What defines the "Past"?
And what is the future? Is the future the unseen, untouched ethereal yet linear path that the world is to take?
... No.
Why do you believe in time? Because you are told.
Let me tell you a little bit of truth.
One year is the time it takes for our planet to orbit the sun.
That is a DISTANCE. You cannot deny that fact.
A month is the time it takes for the moon to orbit the earth. Again, DISTANCE.
A year is, luckily, divisible into twelve months. The astral, cosmic dance performed by the planets and their satellites around the sun dictate this distance.
A month is divisible into how ever many days we see fit. (Think about it; Ceaser added two months. (Julius -> July, Augustus -> August.)
As such, if a mortal man can simply change the measurement of 'time' (or, as I propose, the way we divide up our year) then what kind of thing is that?)
I propose that there is no future, that there is no past.
We exist in but a single 'frame'; the present.
Time does not change, but we do.
Tell me what you think.
4 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoJesus - God or his Son?
Now, I'm not religious myself, but I know a lot of people out there who say Jesus IS God, and others who say he's his son.
What's going on?
Why don't you realise you're using your lives to follow a character in a book? While religion had its uses in creating laws and morality in the past, it's now grown past it's use.
Science is now used to replace faith and imagination with truth and evidence.
What do you think of this statement?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCarte D'or Lemon Sorbet : Vegetarian?
I don't see anything on the ingredients that could be non-veggie, other than the milk products and 'flavourings'.
I can't find anything on the internet, however... so I was just wonering if anyone had any ideas?
6 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoPOLL: Identity. Who are you, and what makes you... you?
Ok, this can get deep so pull your trousers up and take off your shoes.
I'm asking what everyone uses to define themselves.
As some of you may or may not know, the identity of the self is constantly shifting thanks to those around us and how we see ourselves (and they themselves) in them.
Without other people in the world, we would be unable to distinguish our own identity just as without "up" and "down" we would have no navigational orientation.
So; what are the most defining things to you that make up who you are?
Also, how do you express who you are?
1 AnswerPolls & Surveys1 decade agoCommercial Photography in Japan - How to get started?
I'm a commercial photographer over here in the UK, looking to move over to a town similar in size to Nottingham.
So far, I've narrowed it down to Fukushima/Niigata or something similar in size.
I know that contacts are a great thing to have, but I have none in Japan at the minute. So, how would I resume my work over there when I move?
