Carte D'or Lemon Sorbet : Vegetarian?

I don't see anything on the ingredients that could be non-veggie, other than the milk products and 'flavourings'.

I can't find anything on the internet, however... so I was just wonering if anyone had any ideas?

Update:

Well, from the ocado site it says it's not~.

So cha. <3

I guess I'll not risk it. -Nod-.

Update 2:

Oh, and for those who don't know: Milk products can contain Rennet.

Go look it up.

Hi. I'm afraid it is a no.

    Carte D'or Lemon Sorbet

INGREDIENTS: Water, lemon (26%) (juice from concentrate and pieces), glucose-fructose syrup, sugar, glucose syrup, oligofructose, stabilisers (locust bean gum, pectin, carrageenan), milk proteins, flavourings.

The milk proteins are very likely to be casein, which is the milk protein used to make chewy sweets and causes pizzas to have ling stringy bits of cheese in the adverts, as it can be used as a thickener.

According to their website the way this milk protein is processed means that it cannot be described as vegetarian.

Obviously, none of their products are vegan.

Seems a bit sloppy to me because their products are therefore not suitable for the 3-4 million UK vegetarians, and probably not suitable for 558,342 Hindus*, over 1,591,000 Muslims* and over 266,740 Jews* and 152,000* Buddhists.

Just from a business perspective that is stupid.

Sorry I don't know what it is that makes it not vegetarian, something in the "flavourings"... Mackies has lovely sorbet that is suitable for vegetarians as well as Tesco's mango and blackcurrent sorbet.

Why do CARTE D OR not write on their products that it is VEGETARIAN OR NOT.It will help millions of vegetarians to eat their products and will increase their sales!

I can't imagine that sorbet wouldn't be vegetarian, I've never seen any non-veg ingredients in it.

  • It's a type of icecream. It's perfectly safe, unless your a vegan.

I believe that's vegetarian friendly, however, quite obviously not vegan friendly :)
