Alcohol causing my Dissociation?

Ok, so I've been drinking pretty much every night for a while now, on and off... Never had any problems, until the other week when I suddenly became enraged after a manic episode (Mixed episode, perhaps?) and lost all sense of reality, time, and memories.

To cut a long story short, it didn't happen for another few days but gradually grew more frequent and worse; to the point of being dissociated for a whole two weeks until I finally (and instantaneously) snapped back into reality, feeling that once again my body was my own and my thoughts and memories were as well.

I've heard that Alcohol withdrawal can cause dissociation, but how long does this take to onset and how much must one drink for this to occur?

I am in no way addicted, and don't even drink enough to give me a hangover. I could simply not drink if I wished, so I'm just wondering if it's this or something more sinister.

Update:

Ah, I drink plenty of kidney cleaner as it is at work.

It's good stuff.

Maybe you're right, and yes, I have plenty of those. :l

Well I think you already have mental issues and you are self-medicating. So I do not think it is the cause and effect you suggest. Of course being on a bender can make us feel pretty bad.

My friend suggests drinking plenty of "kidney cleaner" (water) and laying of the alcohol for a bit.

why do you feel so sad about yourself? I understand that you aren't doing well but why do you feel so hopeless and pitiful. Your biggest problem may that you don't believe that you can get yourself help, you need to talk to a mental health professional or mental health specialists whom is going to make it simple & easy for you to understand what you are going through and how you can best deal with it. If you don't already have access to one then ask your general health care provider/ doctor to help you find one. Take care.
