Hi,I really had the same concerns about when I started applying to FIDM for the Spring quarter because they actually have rolling admissions there. Anyways...I got SUPER worried that my GPA wasnt as great as I wanted it to be. I had one more year left of high school and was hoping to make up for it by then but by the end of the year I had barely got mostly passing grades and a few good ones. FIDM had been the college of my dreams since forever!!!! I know about Monique Lhullier and Nick Verreos and even got to meet him at one of the FIDM events during the summer! He is way cool and actually teaches fashion at the school! I loved the L.A and Orange county campus and eventually made a decision to attend the L.A campus but I hadn't spoken to an advisor yet because I was pretty nervous about my grades. What changed my mind and calmed my nerves was when I had a friend of mine apply who had the same grades as me who got some super helpful information about how to apply. SHE definetly recommended I talk to an advisor about my concerns instead of being afraid of what they might say. She said the advisors there are really understanding and sometimes being accepted to FIDM doesnt necessarily have to JUST DO with your grades and GPA but they consider the whole student and their passion to come to FIDM as well. BUT also when they spoke to her and saw how low her grade point was...they considered that she could maybe take a few courses at a community college to get an overal slighlty higher GPA to replace some of grades she got to make sure that she would perform well with all the higher level courses that they had at FIDM. FIDM really is like other colleges in their courseload and workload and it is very intense from what I heard so I totally understood that they wanted to help out my friend by giving her a way in. After my friend talked to her advisor she was psyched that they had given her a chance and all she would need to do is take a quarter or so at a community college nearby and then transfer! That was an awesome idea! A few months of hard work later she was at FIDM and I was on my way to follow in her footsteps. My advisor was also very understanding but if I hadn't spoken to her and we had found a great option for me I would not be going into my second quarter now at FIDM. I love being here SOOOO much!!! totally worth the little bit of extra hard work to get a semester of a higher GPA so that I could easily transfer to FIDM. My advisor even ironed out the courses I could take that would transfer as FIDM credits and as my way into FIDM so it worked out well in the end!! :) Talk to an advisor before you worry yourself and if you want to go to FIDM bad enough a little more time before you get there won't hurt. Hope this helps! :)
