blackberries a whole gallon of them ?

I have a whole gallon of blackberries and i am using 8 cups of blackberrys for jam but i want to add some of the berries to a peach and blackberry cobbler and they are very tart, when i add the sugar to i need to mash them some to absorb the sugar or what do i need to do??? thank you so much for answering my question

    I made a blackberry peach pie last Sunday. All I do is toss all the fruit with the sugar (and cornstarch thickener, plus some nutmeg) before putting it into the baking pan. No need to mash them as they soften and absorb the sweetness while cooking.

    I'm jealous you have so many blackberries! Enjoy them all.

    Wash and freeze any extras with a toss of sugar for future use in baked goods!

    Put about a cup of sugar in a quart jar and add the blueberries and then fill the rest with water and soke overnight in the frig. If you are having them left over you can freeze them in little pint containers or small zip lock freezer bags.
