Harry Potter Year:Grade Correlation.?

So i'm trying to figure out...

lets say in HP, A kid a hogwarts is in their 4th year. What Grade would that be in the US? hahah. I'm really curious.

i always forget what grade a first year would be in... would that be 6th grade??

    I'm guessing 9th grade.

    Most 11 years olds are in 6th grade

    12 year olds in 7th etc...

    So a fourteen year old would be in 9th

    Harry would not have been in the 7th grade

    My birthday is in the summer too.

    at 11 I was starting middle school...

    5 years old in kindergarten .......so on

    Well seeing he was 11 in the Sorcerer's Stone, and his birthday is in the summer, he'd be in 7th grade. Then 8th grade for the Chamber of Secrets, 9th grade for the Prisoner of Azkaban, and 10th grade for the Order of the Phoenix (Year 4). But it's set in England, so grades work differently there. I'm not sure how they work, though.
