writing m story about growing up gay in the early 60's?

Question

I am writing my first book , growing up gay in an irish catholic family in the projects?
I was all alone to deal with it while having 10 siblings and a dad who was disgusted with a little boy who was scared. I felt the hate when My football player brother died of cancer, he was 18 and I was 16. the whole family fell apart but we were not allowed to talk about it.....many wonderful people and situations as well as horror this is about me and the horror of being left to fend for myself. I am only interested in telling my story and what happened to me....the way I see it. I cannot control other people or the way they see things. there is sex abuse and verbal as well as physical abuse. this story needs to be told and has never been written before. thanks for all the great suggestions

As a writer, you first need to get the reader, identified with the characters in the story. By describing them as how they look and there unique human mannerisms. Also how the fit into the story with there relationship with other characters. 

Jot down a rough finale, of how you want the story to end, and work your story you are writing, towards this ending.

Addition 
There are many writer's organization's who can assist you with this, also writing, literature and script writing courses you can take.   

Ask at a local book store, the questions you want to know. being they would be your best source for advice. Of how to get in touch with other writers or persons who will tell you what you have written lacks, also they may help you write it to keep a reader interested etc,

Sounds awesome! There has been many variations on this type of story, it comes down to 'being gay and not being accepted'. But I'd read it any way, sounds really good!

Because you've already told us what you "want" to do - first person, your side of the story only, includes all aspects of your childhood - so, just do that. 
We can't tell you anything more about what to put in it because we weren't there for your childhood.
