Is my hamster dead ):?
We've only had her for two weeks and we feed her and give her water, right now shes in hte middle of the cage sprawled out with her eyes closed and she isnt moving or waking up when we open her cage or rattle her bells around :[ we've only had her for two weeks it's hard to believe shes dead, could she be hibernating or have heat stroke?
Yes , this is obviously a serious question -.- did you know hamsters could be in hibernation or have a heat stroke and appear dead? and yes I got it from petco.
Thank you so much for the people who answered respectively :L , sadly she passed on and I miss her terribly.

I've had many, many hamsters before, so I know how much it sucks to have a pet die. From what you have told us, I think it would be safe to say she is dead. But, since I haven't seen her in person, I can't be completely sure. If she is stiff at all, then yes, she has passed away. I suppose you could leave her just a little bit longer, and see if she shows any kind of movement, but I don't think she will. If she is not dead yet in this state, she is most likely dying. I am absolutely not surprised that you purchased this animal from Petco, I only got a hamster from there one time, and it died in almost exactly 2 weeks. (Hm.. odd coincidence). I have one question; did you keep her in a glass aquarium, or a cage with wire bars?
If in an aquarium, ammonia build up can cause death in such a small animal, which is why I highly recommend not using them for rodents. If not, I know that Petco does, and she could have died from the way she was kept there. But anyway, ( if she IS dead) I'm very sorry that this happened, don't buy from Petco again!

Hold her to your ear - is she breathing? If not, I am afraid she is dead, she might have had a stroke or a heart attack. If she is cold and stiff, it means she died some hours ago. If you can hear her breathing, she could have heat stroke; you could splash her with a little cold water - but don't get her chilled. I have heard that putting hamsters in the fridge (NOT the freezer) can help bring down their temperature quickly if they have overheated. I suggest ringing the vet for advice, it is difficult to tell what is wrong without seeing her.

Probably. That's how my guinea pig looked when it died. I also got it from Petco. It was only a few months old.

Pick her up and if you can feel her heart beat and see her breathing, keep her cooled off. If she isn't breathing or have a heart beat, than unfortunately she is dead.
