what is the best outboard motors for the money as of now 25hp and under?

I plan to put on a jon boat. Are the new outboards all they are cracked up to be or am i better off looking for used 2 strokes? I know that the Suzuki oil injected 2 strokes were one of the best ever made in making power. Im looking to get a outboard possibly a 25 hp and another 5hp-10hp for a smaller jon.

thanks

Had a 14' Semi-V Jon with a 20hp Johnson 2 stroke. As Saltwater Gator was sayin', the 2's are lighter and run much quicker. Rig of ours was great, only thing ~ I had ta' put a Hydrofoil on her (outboard) because she didn't plane out as quickly as I wanted. My vote be for the 2 stroker ie., less complicated and the above mentioned. Whatever decision, make it the right one, because my friend and I'm sure your already aware, that outboard will be the biggest monie$ investment for that vessel <);-3

Note: Might give craigslist a shot ~ they've got some purrrrty good prices on used ones. Just click on your state, then the city nearest you and enter in search craiglist bar (left of page) Outboard Motor...

I would think that Bombardier is the best, they are also known as ski-doo and BRP. Any 2 stroke engine from them 25 horsepower and under would be a great engine, they are a top company, and also like yamaha, those are also about the same as Bombardier, they are both good, just make sure you get a 2 stroke for power, or a 4 stroke for just doing whatever, but they are quite heavy and i think are a bit more maintainence.

smaller engine 4 strokes aren't as powerful as 2 strokes. And they are heavier. if power is what you want try to find a used 2000 era 2 stroke. They are lighter and faster.

Tohatsu makes Nissan and Mercury autos under 40 hp. areas are on hand by using the Tohatsu, Nissan or Mercury broking. All 3 makes use a similar engine and shaft. they only exchange the kind sticky label on the conceal. 25 hp. would be a sprint huge for a 14 feet. alum. boat. you may seem for 9.9 hp. engine.
