Ok I'm 16 n I live with my mom n step dad n half sister. She gets to do whatever she wants she goes to private school n never has to do chores. I'm not gonna go all the way into detail about how my mom is crazy. She spends her money n child support on clothes for her n dying her hair n makeup n nails and stuff like that instead of food for us. My dad said I cld pack up my stuff right now n go live with his friend pat while he gets custody of me. His job has him travelin all around so I can't live with him but idk how to ask this but is it really that easy. He said if my mom called the cops they wldnt come get me n bring me back but I doubt that. Can someone please explain this to me?

It's different in every state but in mine (KY) your father would have to file for custody for you in court. After age 12 the child has a say in who he gets to live with. So you will be able to tell the judge you want to live with your dad and why. If the judge feels it would be in your best interest to live with your father then he may grant him custody. Your school counselor may be able to help you too.

Really you need to find out through Child Services where you are about your rights, and the parental responsibilities ..... get the right information for where you live, then make your choices .....
