Should Hollyweird get all the tax breaks they receive?

The Hollyweirdos receive millions for getting up at 5:00 am (the poor babies) getting dabbed with makeup, reciting a few lines and going on fun filled promotional tours. They receive deals and tax breaks from the government and get out of paying their fair share while all of us worker bees dish out dollars to go to see their biased films and listen to them whine or preach to us to conserve. Shouldn't we boycott their films for awhile just to send a message?

Sure...and while we're at it, let's take away the standard deduction, the mortgage tax break, the tax break for retirement plans, all the shelters that corporations get, all the shelters that the high income people get, tax the churches and charities.

BTW, those "weirdos" work 10 hour days, the average actor is unemployed 80% of the time and the average actor makes about $30,000 a year...wow all that high priced whining..go listen to Goldman Sachs, BP executives whine..they complain about getting caught doing illegal things...maybe we should boycott all them to...let's start with the ag companies who get billions (yes billions) in subsidies for NOT growing food while putting family farmers out of business. All the corporations who got tax breaks for sending jobs overseas while laying off American workers. And just so I am clear, which tax breaks are those actors getting? Numbers please.

The only tax breaks that I know of for Hollywood are tax incentives created by various states in an attempt to lure production companies to choose their state as a location for a film shoot. Those tax breaks are provided to the PRODUCTION COMPANIES because it's the companies that decide where to film. The tax breaks are not provided to the ACTORS.

There are no FEDERAL tax breaks specifically targeted at actors or entertainers, except that in a few international tax treaties, actors and entertainers are subject to special rules to help them avoid double taxation. That's not really a tax break; it's just a way of making sure they only get taxed once.

Specifically what "deals and tax breaks" are you talking about? You need more info than hearsay and rumors from gossip websites.

Hollywood stars get the same tax treatment as any other millionaire. Most of them pay big bucks to attorneys to find all the LEGAL ways to reduce their taxes, but they're not getting any special kickbacks that other people can't get.

It wasn't that many years ago that actors and the ilk were considered one step above petty thieves; remember that an actor assasinated President Lincoln? When traveling groups of actors came to town people locked up everything that wasn't nailed down to keep it from being stolen. Don't you find it amusing in the here and now that people worship the ground these people walk on?

Some get paid a lot, but what makes you think they get special tax breaks?
