Apart from applying ice wrapped in a soft cloth the best thing would be to ask a pharmacist or his doctor for help. There are a lot of products on the market, but you need expert advice.

It's a lovely idea you have, I don't think you will be able to make a cream that is safe and also numbs the pain.

There are a couple of links below with recipes for making salves, but I have no personal experience with them. You would do well to take advice if or when you decide to make one. Ask at a health food store.

    2) This link speaks to components of healing balm: http://naturalfeeling.com/natural_feeling/salvedti... Arnica salve has long been used for pain reduction

Here is a link with some options you can look through for a cream to purchase: http://www.thefind.com/beauty/info-pain-relief-cre... (Walmart link)

    3) Honey for pain relief: Mix 3 Tbls. of honey in boiled water and drink. Honey has natural pain-relieving powers.http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/honey.html

    4) Personal Experience that helped with rapid healing and pain reduction: Dolamite, Vitamin E and CoQ10 are helpful in healing tissues after surgery. (Check with MD)

    Info on CoQ10: http://www.examiner.com/x-17695-Tampa-Health-Care-...

    5) Natural Calendula flower helps stimulates white blood cells ( anti-bacterial, anti-fungicidal and anti-inflammatory) and helps speed wound healing. It helps treat inflammatory skin conditions. You can buy this as a cream in a health food store.

Cucumber can be used after blending in a blender into a puree to cool down the area. ( from The Green Pharmacy by James Duke, Ph.D )

    6) You can work with Polarity pts. on his hands and feet ( or he can do this if able) by working with applying some pressure top/bottom or side/side to each finger. If there have been many surgeries over time, it is best to work with his toes with top/bottom, side/side application of contact. Where there is more pain, apply more pressure feeling for any pts. of stuck energy/pain until it relaxes. In this way you can treat the pain throughout his system w/out going directly to sensitive spot on skin.

Feel free to ask me questions about Polarit Pts. I am happy to help.

    Warmest Regards,

    Kimberly
