Family member wants to relocate from Dallas Texas?

He has been out of work, no car but small savings. Recommendations for smaller city with good public transportation system? He is a Chef by trade. thanks

Austin is about half the size of Dallas, has excellent employment potential in the restaurant industry, great public transportation, nightlife, lower crime rate than most other TX cities.

Austin's great but the people there are kinda weird, i saw a homless man eating soup with a twig. Theres Bryan, Texas which is right next to College Station home of the A&M Aggies really small and good schools i have cousins living there. There's also Mc Allen, Texas population is about 104k so it's pretty small again good schools i know alot of people who live there it's really close to the Mexico/USA border so we have problems yeah but it's not as bad as it could be, then theres the neighboring city Mission, Texas it's even smaller and it's closer to Mexico one of the school districts is Sharyland ISD and the better Junior High is right on Old Military Highway and they just built a bridge to West Reynosa but they have a cop/fire substation so it's ok. It's one of the better school districts in the Valley, I went there and im fine very smart i live in Mission not much to do but it's safe small town i know alot of the people and I have no problem living here, once im done with college im actually going back.
