AVG Antivirus Virus Vault? How it works? Anything better?

I'm just wondering when AVG finds threats and moves them to the virus vault, does deleting them from there just delete the virus? I need to know because I have a few, and if there are any free programs that are better to use. My sister downloaded some stupid stuff from limewire and got viruses, yipee.

When you delete a file from the Virus Vault, it deletes it off of your computer; the virus vault prevents it from harming your computer, but deleting it just takes it one step further.

    Is there a better program?

AVG has been a favorite amongst computer users for years, and I don't understand why. AVG only detects about 90% of virus; it is terrible at finding NEW threats and finding a fix for them. Microsoft Security Essentials is the best free anti-virus right now, for it has amazing detection rates and very false-positives. The cool thing about MSE is that it detects almost ALL types of Malware: Viruses, Malware, Spyware, Adware, Rootkits, etc. Although, it cannot detect rootkits as well as other programs, I think you will be completely satisfied if you download this.

deleting the viruses from the vault will delete them from your hard disk. In free programs, there is none better. I have been using AVG since version 7.0. Get rid of limewire. AVG is great. the fact that it put it in the vault is good.

Yes deleting them from virus vault deletes the virus.

For a better but still free alternative use one of these. (uninstall AVG first)

    Avast http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000...

    Microsoft Security essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/?mkt=...

Colonic those are for after you get infected not preventing infections.

The only time you may need to heal is if an application no longer works because the item(s) in the vault belong to that application. If you have no problems with your operating system or applications - delete them. wdw
