What is this on Bowes moor?

To the north of the A66 in Yorkshire, I think its called Bowes moor, there are a whole lot of ovular shapes on the ground.

I thought that they were something like peat cuts at first, but sure its not.

Update:

No much larger than boulders me thinks. looks like an actual border around most of them

    How very odd. When you zoom in, they are boulders; left over from the last ice age maybe?
