The first step is to get good control of your diabetes. Then you may of course use over-the-counter non-steroidal-anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen although prescription piroxicam and meloxicam are less expensive. And of course you may use acetaminophen (Tylenol). Opioids such as hydrocodone should be avoided if at all possible. The next step is to use drugs which work on the nerve membrane and / or the nerve synapse. Drugs that work on the nerve membrane include carbamazepine and gabapentin. A much more expensive drug is pregabalin (Lyrica). Drugs that work on the nerve synapse include inexpensive amitriptyline or the much more expensive duloxetine (Cymbalta). There are topical preparations and many other drugs and drug combinations. If I may be of further assistance please let me know. I wish you the very best of health and in all things may God bless.

I found that high doses of vitamin D3 stopped the pain from neuropathy. I took 50,000 IU/day for three days and 10,000 IU/day since. The pain was completely gone in about a week.
I understand that this is not part of your question, but I was able to regenerate my nerves. I took massive doses of a particular vitamin B12, called methylcobalamin. I took 30,000 mcg/day for ten days and 10,000 mcg/day since. It took a couple of months before I noticed that I was no longer falling down.

Healthy eating is especially important to ensure that you get essential vitamins and minerals. Emphasize low-fat meats and dairy products and include lots of fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your diet.
