can you mix r-11 &134 refrigerant? 1991 Ford Explorer?

    It's actually R-12, and no you can't. The O-rings in the R-12 system will get eaten up by the R-134a. Have your system pumped down, buy and install a new O-ring kit, and then have the system vacuumed down for a recharge with R-134a.

    Don't listen to either one of those. All you need to do is pump the r-12 out buy a conversion kit at Wal-mart for about 40.00. It includes the adapters for the lines and the R-134. Just make sure you have it evacuated.

    To add to Lemar J you will also have to change your compressor oil also.
