What size hermit crab should I get?
I really like the Jumbo kind but some people say they can like push over the tank to escape, and I wouldn't be able to find new shells for it? The tiny ones are cool and their pinches don't really hurt. But i'm getting 2 and they have to be around the same size?

the Jumbo kind don't push over the tank if you buy the right type of tank. when I had hermit crabs I had a 10-gallon glass aquarium tank which 3 jumbos lived perfectly happily in. They don't pinch either as long as you handle them with a flat hand. and if you are getting 2 it won't matter how their size is. At one time I had a small hermit crab, medium, and a jumbo and they were fine together. :)

It really doesn't matter what kind you get, just make sure you do your research first. The jumbos can't push the tank over if you have the right tank. But if you're going to get jumbos, you really need a 20 gallon or bigger. If you go with 2 smaller crabs you can start with a 10 gallon. It's better if you have crabs that aren't the same size. If they're the same size they will often fight over shells or try to take the shell off of the other crab. I have a large and a tiny in the same tank and they get together VERY peacefully.
Here are some great research sites for you to check out to make sure you actually want to invest in Hermit Crabs (they're wonderful, but most people don't realize how much care they actually need):

I think you should go with the small ones. I know from experience that the pincher on the big ones hurt BAD. Although if it does end up pinching you run it under water. I would still go with small though.

Start with a smaller crab so he will grow up knowing you. If you change your mind about wanting a small one he can grow. Big ones never shrink.
