Should I wait for the prices to come down on digital TVs?

I saw a digital TV on sale at CVS and decided to buy it, but now I am having second thoughts. This one is the size of a portable DVD player, and since I am a person who watches very little TV, I was hypnotized by the awesome picture quality. But that made me wonder if I shouldn't wait for the price to come down on a better model. I wonder how much is the cheapest one available. The one I saw was $99.

At that price point there is no better time than the present to purchase a TV. At that price point it is highly competitive and very little money is made selling TVs.

I do not think you will see the technology or better model change rapidly in the near future.

Over time technology will improve and low end models will improve but that fact is a constant so whenever you enter the market for a TV this will be the case.

Technology has just shifted away from analog to all digital so insure you buy a digital TV. Digital is here to stay and the technology is relatively mature/stable/compatible so this is a good time to enter the market for a new TV. I do agree the cheapest models these days are relatively capable TVs. If it is a replacing an older tube TV you will also be saving a bit of money on electricity.

Your best way to get ahead of the curve is to find a great price now...like look for $250 model that is on sale plus a rebate for $99...then you will basically pay $99 now for the TV that may be fairly priced $99 in a few years.

Shop online...you will find better prices than a regular store. If you find a model at a store write down the model number and search for it online. Watch/search the deal forums and you can find great prices. Here is a good forum:

Search amazon and read the purchaser reviews on different models before purchasing. Amazon pretty much sells everything so even if you find the model or better price on another web site it will usually also be listed on Amazon.

If you step up in price a bit you can look at HDTVs which have a truly incredible picture.

    Good luck.

If you need a TV, buy a TV. If you don't, don't.

If you watch very little, go to a friend's house to watch theirs. Its more fun to watch with someone else.

Don't confuse digital with HDTV. All new TV's will be digital, but HD (high definition) requires a subscription, at least for the time being. Hopefully, someday, all broadcasts will be in HD.

You think a little tv picture is awasome? We went to a Sony 55" 1080p. We sit about 7 feet from the screen. When full 1080p resolution is on the picture still amazes me. We've had it for a year and a half. LOVE it.

uncertain why the thumbs right down to a number of the solutions, yet expenses of HD panels are going on and could proceed to realize this. even yet it heavily isn't with the aid of Feb swap. expenses commonly do flow down in previous due Jan, which you would be able to do nicely to attend. of course, you need to look ahead to yet another 300 and sixty 5 days and watch expenses flow down much greater.
