What's with all of the redirection when I click on a site in Google?
This is extremely aggravating - when I click on a site, it is redirected to a totally unrelated site. It USUALLY goes to the right site on the second try.
What's up with that?

Get your dad, Richard, to fix it for you. Richard knows how to fix anything.

You will have a virus. The virus in question will be the "Search Redirect Virus". This virus infects your PC and manipulates genuine search links to make them appear genuine, however once you have clicked them redirects you to various websites that are irrelevant.
The virus is quite hard to remove without the right program because normal anti virus cannot detect it. This is because the way it infects your PC, unlike a trojan or similar viruses, it does not run a background process and only changes a few system files, so it appears to your conventional anti virus that your system is working OK.
What you will need is ComboFix. When I had this problem it removed this irritating virus for me no problem. You can find a link here and also a brilliant tutorial I used to remove it:
