Dachshund back injuries?

I think my dachshund injured his back from being picked up wrong or jumping off the couch. I noticed he had loss of appetite and when I touch his back a bit below his shoulder blades he tenses up (if some one else touches there or his hips he'll whine or yelp). But other then that he is just as active and is moving fine. Normally I'd take him to the vet right away but I'm unemployed now and I no longer have a car. I've had him for 6 years so no way I'm going to give him up just cause I've reached a bump in the road.

Any helpful tips/suggestions?

Anyone know of a program or something that might help??

i would restrict his activity completely. were talking about being in his kennel at all times except to go out to pee and you would carry him out there and have him on a leash. dachshunds can get problems in their back even without overactivity or injury. you could get an exam from a cheap vet and have them give you a prescription for the pain meds. i heard you can get tramadol from the pharmacy for 4 dollars if you goto the walmart that has 4 dollar generic prescriptions. if your dog develops an abnormal gait or paralysis you have to goto the vet, dont wait.

The vet is the only one who can answer this for you. It is possible that he slipped a disc in his back and that you could pop that back in, but if you don't know how to do that, you could cause more injuries to the dog. Call around to the vets in your area and find the AG vet. The AG vet is the vet who is staffed so that they can come to your house and treat your pets. They can drive out to where you live and take care of your dog. We have all reached a bump in the road, but dogs come first, so don't make excuses, find a way to pay the vet bill. Maybe there is some work you can do for your vet, or trade services or trade something you own. My vet would cut my dogs nails and I would bake her peanut butter cookies. My hair dresser would cut my hair and I would print things off my computer. Any one in a service industry will trade with you,, you just have to ask. I trades shots from a doctor once for a roll of stickers. They gave out the stickers to kids for being brave when they got shots.

Some vet offices have payment plans to help you pay
