Thermostat wiring problem?
Specifically for paranut5 - I apologize for handing the selection of best answer to my last question over to the group but neither answer actually solved my problem at that time. Since then, I found that the installers had done a bit of wire splicing between the furnace and the A/C unit. Your comment about the A/C being the Y leg was the key to solving the issue. I had both the R and the RC connected to the same side, the wire I had labeled RC belonged on the other side.. as it was the Y leg, I must have mislabeled it. Thanks.

the r and the rc should have a red jumper wire that connects the 2 together if you look on the thermostat there are 5 screws that get low voltage wires,g for green,r for red,rc is the red jumper,y yellow and w is white,i'm just giving this to you just in case you still need it
