Why is it so expensive to fly between Louisville, KY and Memphis, TN?

Update:

The average cost for a roundtrip ticket is 450-500 dollars. I've searched different days of the week, different months, and it's all the same. It's truely evil!

There are not a lot of flights out of Louisville, except for UPS. Also Memphis is a hub for Delta/Northwest and since they control most of the flights out of that airport, they feel they can charge a higher price. Delta used to do the same thing in Cincinnati. We had the highest airfare in the country. People would end up driving an hour or 2 to other cities to catch a flight because it was much cheaper.

I really don't know if this would help but i am from and is currently living in memphis which is about 6 hours from louisville so i guess their cost of living may have something to do with it. How much does it cost to fly to memphis?
