Google it and click on Urban Dictionary.

Also related to this is LULZ

A Troll is a person who posts on message boards, forums, Q&A boards, etc. who is doing so just to have fun, to mock, ridicule, make fun of, and generally have fun at other people's expense.

They do it for the LULZ is the most common answer I've seen on this Q&A board.

LULZ is laughter at someone else's expense.

Often times a TROLL will pretend to be a very naive or ignorant person, just to post an obviously inflammatory question and see people's reactions.

In the most extreme cases.. Trolls will be part of a group which share their questions and people's over reactions with each other. Called "Sharing the LULZ"

Many Trolls pride themselves with being able to emotionally wreck someone's day.

Several news agencies have done stories on Troll groups because they can destroy an online community in some cases.

That's what Trolls are in general.

Here on R&S, TROLLS or "Trolling" is simply being immature and asking inflammatory questions which are rhetorical and you could care less about the answer to.

They often times come in the form of rolling, on-going jokes such as...

    the "spiritually speaking" questions

or any of the other Pizza questions or other such common themes floating around R&S

    OR

From brand new accounts created that day or the day before just to Troll with.

    OR

If you click on the person's profile, they will sometimes say they just like to anger people or have a link to their blog which says the same thing.

Trolls very plenty disillusioned me because of the fact there are some people who're no longer attentive to trolls (which the trolls locate specific exhilaration in). interior the religious, political, and cultural section they unfold fundamentalist lies which some people take intense. the project approximately trolls is that there is not any way in which you will tutor that an nameless individual is posting falsehoods only for kicks. If Yahoo have been to delete something that could desire to be taken as offense they could be treading on loose speech.

    1a. Noun

One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.

    1b. Noun

A person who, on a message forum of some type, attacks and flames other members of the forum for any of a number of reasons such as rank, previous disagreements, sex, status, ect.

A troll usually flames threads without staying on topic, unlike a "Flamer" who flames a thread because he/she disagrees with the content of the thread.

    1c. Noun

A member of an internet forum who continually harangues and harasses others. Someone with nothing worthwhile to add to a certain conversation, but rather continually threadjacks or changes the subject, as well as thinks every member of the forum is talking about them and only them. Trolls often go by multiple names to circumvent getting banned.

    2a. Noun

Sometimes compared to the Japanese ‘Oni’, a troll is a supernatural creature of Scandinavian folklore, whose race was thought to have carried massive stones into the countryside (although actually the result of glaciers). Lives in hills, mountains, caves, or under bridges. They are stupid, large, brutish, hairy, long-nosed, and bug-e..

an immature, childish person who deliberately asks provacative questions just

to get an emotional response. Most of the atheists on this site are trolls. They

have no interest in spirituality, and thus, no life, so they come here to ask provacative

questions just to be mean mostly. It's sad, really.
