1 AnswerMathematics5 years agoIs Donald Trump much smarter than his detractors and opponents make him out to be?
When he first launched his presidential campaign, people broadly thought of it as a joke candidate that couldn't come close to the nomination. As he starts making outrageous and controversial claims at his campaign rallies and speeches, the media did their best to paint him as a loud-mouthed buffoon. But Trump's strategy seems to be operating on the premise that "any publicity is good publicity" and he essentially played on that and took it to his advantage, he used that publicity to get his name out there.
I don't know if he can actually win the general election, and I have to admit, I question how much of his platform I can take at face value. But I have to give him credit for playing the media game and outlasting his Republican competitors and withstanding the negative pressure from the Republican establishment.
7 AnswersPolitics5 years agoIf I write this script in python and execute it in a UNIX shell, would this execute the command one at a time, or send all the commands?
Let's say the script is:
-----------------
#!/usr/bin/python3
import os
os.system('echo Hello')
os.system('echo Good day')
------------------
Would this execute the first command, and then execute the second command immediately afterwards?
How would i write a script to make it so that the os executes the first command, wait until it's done, then execute the second command?
I need to do this with commands that will take a long time to run, and I need to make it so that the next command waits until the previous one is done executing before starting.
3 AnswersProgramming & Design5 years agoIs there really a Right or wrong side of History or is History written by the victors?
"Being on the wrong side of history" or "being on the right side of history" is a term that many people use to imply that a particular political position or attitude is inevitably going to prevail and that progress in inevitable.
Do you think there really is such a thing? Or is history always written by whichever side wins to portray its own side as being on the right side of history?
8 AnswersPhilosophy5 years agoPro-choicers - At what stage in development do you consider a human embryo to be a person?
I think most people agree it's wrong to kill a newborn baby, since a newborn is a person.
I would also say lots of people would say it's wrong to kill a baby as it is being born.
I would also say lots of people would say it's wrong to kill a baby one week before it's due.
So the question is, while a human embryo is developing, where is the magical point in development that distinguishes an person from non-person embryo? Assuming that an egg has been successfully fertilized?
12 AnswersPolitics5 years agoWhy doesn't the USA withdraw its military forces from Japan? Why not let Japan re-militarize and handle its own national defense?
WWII was such a long time ago. Do we really have anything to worry about from Japan at this point?
They already have a Self-Defense force which is like their National Guard. Why not let them fully remilitarize?

15 AnswersPolitics5 years agoWhen the attacks broke out yesterday in Paris, I immediately thought that it had to be Muslim terrorists. Does that make me a racist?
This morning I saw that it was ISIS claiming responsibility for the attacks, so I was right.
However, yesterday when it just broke out, I saw the headline of Gunfire, Explosions, and hostages and before I read the details, I already thought it had to be Muslims.

Zechariah 14:12 ESV
"And this shall be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths."
Isaiah 26:19-20 ESV
"Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give birth to the dead. Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the fury has passed by."
Matthew 27:51-53
"And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many."
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhy does Mark Zuckerberg have so many Christian and Muslim well-wishers, despite the fact that he's a Jewish atheist?
I follow his Facebook page, and when he makes a post, there are thousands of responses, many of them are from Christians and Muslims saying they will pray for his success in various endeavors, and pray for happiness with his incoming child.
Why do these Christians and Muslims do this? Don't they know that according to their religion, Mark Zuckerberg, a Jewish atheist, is bound for hell?
