Why doesn't the USA withdraw its military forces from Japan? Why not let Japan re-militarize and handle its own national defense?

WWII was such a long time ago. Do we really have anything to worry about from Japan at this point?

They already have a Self-Defense force which is like their National Guard. Why not let them fully remilitarize?

Its funny, most people in the country had that exact isolationist mentality when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

I guess that just goes to show that history inevitably repeats itself.

    Hope that helps.

I think the Japanese should buy 2 nuclear air craft carriers from the USA. I don't know how good Japan's sub's are, but maybe we could sell them a few Los Angeles class attack subs, too.

Japanese ship building is state of the art. Maybe they can build their own air craft carriers.
