Knocking down Saddam Hussein lead to the rise of ISIS. Does this mean that Knocking down al-Assad is a bad idea?

Since the Middle East seems to need strong-armed dictatorships in order for stability to happen?

I've posed this question many times in response to liberals mewling about the bad, ol' West "creating" ISIS by removing Hussein.

Bless their hearts. They're so wrapped up in their hate for conservatives that they don't realize they've implied exactly what you said - the world is safer when predominantly Muslim regions are under the control of dictatorships.

Repubs want to believe Obama created ISIS and he doesn't know how to stop them. Which is fun for them to believe. But there's stuff about this war you never hear!

First of all, Assad is very popular in Syria. If they had a free, fair election, they'd probably elect him.

Assad is being attacked by three or four different factions. ISIS is just one. NONE of these outfits are friends of ours. We are on none of their sides. Or Assad's. We don't have a dog in this fight!

Anyway, if we knocked out Assad, you'd have one of these groups taking over, and the other groups just continuing the fight. If you go after ISIS with bombs--like all the Republican candidates want to do--you kill 3x or 4x as many innocent civilians. This will win us the love of the people! They'll greet us as liberators!

Obama's "Hope, change, yes we can Arab Spring!" in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen and Syria is what led to ISIS.

No, Isis only became violent after Obama pulled troops and the funding Bush was giving them to rebuild.
